Rhodes 54 Retro Slider Preamp

DESCRIPTION

So here is the RetroSlider. Just a silly play off the name RetroFlyer and fundamentally a very close play off the original preamp. It has the same high-fidelity circuit and the same beautiful stereo tremolo modeled after the original optical circuit of the Peterson preamp. All on a custom printed platter and offered with or without a cheek block pre-wired. Here are the highlights:

• Same all analog circuit with VCA stereo tremolo.

• NOS Made-in-Japan sliders pre-wired for the volume and mid-range EQ

• Pre-wired pots to control the tremolo - no soldering needed anywhere

• Optional pre-wired cheek block or DIY

• Complete and detailed instructions, lifetime support and 1 year warranty

NOTE: Perhaps the biggest difference between this unit and our other preamps is ease of installation. You’ll need to remove your action and potentially drill holes if you choose to DIY your cheek block. As it will only permanently modify the cheek block it is reversible with a new cheek block which are readily available. But if you’re a bit handy it’s really not too bad and we are available nearly every day to lend support.

FINER DETAILS: This is a high-fidelity high-headroom preamp that’s impedance and gain matched to the Rhodes and results are a lot like lifting a blanket off the sound of your Rhodes. You’ll have improved detail, better bass and transient response and it will allow better gain staging whether you’re running direct into an interface or mixer or into a high gain tube amplifier. There’s a wide-band EQ to boost or cut the mids. And of course the stereo tremolo (also works in mono) which is both unique and extremely musical. All together this is a wonderful compliment to the Rhodes and serious tool for studio or stage. Now in a package fit for a 54!

Other notes - currently these units ship without slider knobs and screws for the sliders so they will need to be retained from the original. If you don’t have these let us know and we’ll see if we can help. The units will be wired in the on position without a switch so they will be on while plugged in. Simply unplugging when not in use is fine, and likewise, leaving the units on should cause no problems either. If you’re feeling handy you can easily wire a power switch but please contact us first so we can help.
